We are looking for a Senior Carer to professionally and thoughtfully deliver care during any span of duty, ensuring that a safe, effective and efficient care service is maintained which meets the needs of our residents. To provide care to residents in accordance with their individually assessed needs to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Care:
- Assist clients with personal care activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Support clients with mobility, transferring, and positioning.
- Monitor clients’ health and report any changes or concerns to the Agency Manager and relevant healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications according to prescribed routines, ensuring accurate and safe delivery.
- Implement and follow individualised care plans to meet clients’ specific needs.
- Support and Supervision:
- Provide guidance and support to junior care staff, ensuring high standards of care.
- Lead shifts, delegating tasks and responsibilities as necessary.
- Conduct training sessions and mentor new staff members.
- Ensure compliance with care plans and individualised client care protocols.
- Emotional and Social Support:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Encourage and facilitate social activities and interactions to enhance clients’ quality of life.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to clients.
- Health and Safety:
- Ensure that health and safety policies are adhered to, including infection control procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients and staff.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and incidents, providing appropriate care and reporting as required.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care provided.
- Assist with care plan reviews and updates in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a carer role, preferably in a residential or nursing home setting.
- Experience in supervising or leading a team is desirable.
- Education and Certification:
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Certification in medication administration.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and leadership abilities.
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanour.
- Ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism and sensitivity.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility.
- Stamina to handle long shifts and the physical demands of the role.
Working Conditions:
- Shift-based work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Working in various client settings, which may involve exposure to infections, chemicals, and other hazards.
